What is P-EBT?

  • The Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program is a federal program created in the spring of 2020 to supplement existing nutrition programs for low-income households while schools were closed due to COVID-19.
  • To be eligible for P-EBT benefits, students must qualify for free or reduced-price school meals under the National School Lunch Program.

  • Questions regarding current or previous issuances of benefits should be directed to the P-EBT Call Center from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday - Friday at 866-513-1414 (toll-free) or 804-294-1633.

Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) has experienced P-EBT card distribution issues for new and some existing P-EBT recipients. Staff are working diligently to address this issue and mail out cards daily to recipients who have not yet received theirs. All cards are expected to be mailed by April 2, 2021. Please allow 10 business days after that date to receive your card. If you have not received your card and benefits by April 16, please call the P-EBT Call Center.
