The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently revised their COVID-19 guidelines on March 1, 2024. Please refer to the documents linked below for more specific information.  COVID-19 will now be managed similarly to other respiratory viruses, such as Flu and RSV. Consequently, the COVID-19 Health Plan has been removed from the BCPS website.  Botetourt County Schools continues to monitor and log COVID-19 and Flu cases to promptly identify and address any potential outbreaks within our schools.

Individuals who have been diagnosed with a respiratory virus may return to school under the following conditions:

  • The individual has experienced an improvement in symptoms over a 24-hour period.
  • The individual has been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.

These updates are effective for our school division starting March 5, 2024.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's school nurse.
