The goal of our preschool programs in Botetourt County
Public Schools is to provide students with experiences that support the
development of school readiness. Children in our Early Childhood Special
Education (ECSE) programs are provided with a variety of experiences
that are designed to support the academic, motor, language, and
social/emotional needs of our students. Children with special needs who
have experienced support early in life experience greater success in
future settings.

Children aged 2-5 with identified disabilities or
delays may be eligible to receive special education and related services
through Botetourt County Public Schools. If you suspect that your child
is delayed in any area of development, you may request a referral to
Child Study by contacting the principal in your attendance area or the
supervisor of special education to determine if further evaluation is
necessary.
If your child is found eligible for ECSE services, a
team that includes representatives from the school division and parents
will develop an individualized educational program that is designed to
meet your child’s developmental needs. The goals, settings, and support
personnel needed to assist your child will be determined by this team.
