Jonathan Russ, Ed.D.
I am truly honored and excited to be superintendent of Botetourt County
Public Schools, and I look forward to our future together!
I have been blessed with a beautiful family. I am married to my best friend, Dr. Brenda Russ, who is also a public
educator. She currently serves as a principal in Roanoke City Public Schools. I have four beautiful children: Haley, Kensley, Brody, and Sofía.
My career in public education spans more than three decades. I completed a B.A. in
Mathematics from Emory & Henry College, an M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from George
Mason University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from Virginia
Tech. During my career, I have served in the following positions: middle school mathematics teacher, high
school mathematics teacher, high school assistant principal, middle school assistant principal, elementary
principal, director of assessment and accountability, director of human resources, chief administrative
officer, and deputy superintendent.
I will post periodic updates to this site to keep you up-to-date and informed. I look forward to collaborating with the community to achieve the mission statement for the students in Botetourt County Schools.
Sincerely,
Jonathan D. Russ, Ed.D.
