Our Role
The Finance Department supports Botetourt County Public Schools by ensuring responsible stewardship of public funds and promoting sound fiscal practices that directly support teaching and learning. We work to maximize the impact of limited financial resources through strategic budgeting, long-range financial planning, data-informed analysis, and strong internal controls.
What We Do
The Finance Department is responsible for:
- Processing vendor payments and managing Accounts Payable
- Developing and administering the School Division’s annual budget
- Forecasting revenues to support short- and long-term financial planning
- Conducting financial and economic analyses to support informed decision-making
- Planning and overseeing capital improvement and school facility funding
- Maintaining accurate financial records and reporting systems
- Tracking and reporting fixed assets
- Overseeing grant compliance and financial reporting
- Supporting innovative problem-solving and fiscal policy development
By aligning financial resources with instructional priorities, the Finance Department helps ensure that Botetourt County Public Schools can provide high-quality educational opportunities, maintain safe and effective learning environments, and plan responsibly for the future.
