Botetourt County Public Schools has implemented a new Random Drug Testing Policy to support student health, safety, and well-being. This initiative is part of a broader effort to maintain a learning environment free from illegal drugs, alcohol, and performance-enhancing substances.
Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, students in grades 6–12 who choose to participate in school-sponsored extracurricular activities, and/or park on school property will be subject to random drug testing as a condition of participation. Students and their parent/guardian must sign a consent form each year agreeing to follow the drug-testing program rules and procedures before participating in extracurricular activities or receiving a parking permit. Your child’s school will communicate a schedule of orientation meetings in the coming weeks.
For more details, including orientation requirements and a full overview of the policy, please see the documents below, or contact your child's school administrator.
