This school year, Botetourt County had several elementary teams participate in the Stock Market Game.
The Stock Market Game is an online educational program used to help teach math, social studies, business, economics, and language skills while focusing on the importance of long-term saving and investment. Students participate in teams and manage a simulated investment portfolio.
Each semester program includes a 10-week competition that allows student teams to compare the performance of their portfolios with other teams in Virginia and their region.
Winning teams in the fall and spring competition were invited to Virginia Tech for a celebration on May 9, 2013.
The fall first place team members were Matthew Garber, Holly Acker, Amy Parris, and Kaylie Ford from Cloverdale Elementary School.
Botetourt County also had a third place winner in fall competition and the team members were Garrett Layman, Michael Pigeon, Sarah Graham and Madison Gunter also from Cloverdale Elementary.
This spring winning teams from Botetourt included a second place team from Colonial (members were Jake Townsend and Kiah Hall) and a third place team from Breckinridge (team members were Lauren Fox and Mackenzie Seebo).
Congratulations to all of our winners!
