Savannah Day had her last competition before surgery this weekend in Richmond. There, she received a standing ovation from three-thousand people.

She's used to rallying the crowd, but a Botetourt County middle school student is inspiring people through her actions not just her cheers.

In September, we introduced you to Savannah Day.

Savannah learned she would have brain surgery at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital over Christmas.

Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she used the news to start a toy drive for other kids who will also be in the hospital for the holidays.

Savannah and her family had hoped to collect 500 toys.

This weekend, cheerleaders at a meet in Richmond helped the Read Mountain Middle School student triple her goal.

"All the cheerleaders from that competition, they collected money, so we got $650 to buy toys for the toy drive and we got over 100-toys for the toy drive that people actually brought in," says Savannah's, mom Michelle Day.

The last collection day for the "Cheer 4 Savannah" toy drive is December 6th.
