Lord Botetourt girls' basketball coach Pound passes 300-win mark

Coach Chuck Pound has been on the sidelines for Lord Botetourt High School's girls' basketball team for 18 years. On Dec. 27, his team achieved the 300th career win for Pound.

Pound, who is also the athletic director for LBHS, said, "I have been fortunate to have good talent and good help. No coach can win without talented players and people to help out."

Pound is a great coach, though, as evidenced by his career. Three hundred wins is a milestone seldom, if ever, reached by an average coach. Some memorable career moments are trips to state championship games in Richmond and "winning," as he said, "a few good games we shouldn't have."

He sees the perks of being around a long while. "I get invited to a number of weddings and sometimes get to hold a baby or two," he said.

Congratulations to Chuck Pound on the milestone!
