Lord Botetourt High School graduated  263 on Tuesday, June 12. With  plenty of family in friends in attendance at the Salem Civic Center, pomp and circumstance was official for the evening. Class president Megan Kingery and SCA president Sally Wice opened with remarks and the Pledge of Allegiance. Janet Womack, principal at the school thanked the class for bringing back school spirit. School Superintendent Dr. Tony Brads reminded the students to thank parents and teachers for their help along the way.  Valedictorian Brooke Williams compared  the journey ahead to parts of a vacation to the Grand Canyon and Harry Potter books she read as a child.  The salutatorian Caitlyn Overbay ended the speeches of the evening with a “We did it!”

The school concert band and Cavalier choir provided music during the ceremony and then 263 graduates walked across the stage to receive high school diplomas. 184 students received Technical Education seals on diplomas, 172 industry certifications, 175 college credit, 103 will attend a two year school, 114 will go to a four year school and there are 8 undecided. Three are going in the military. 35 grads are entering the work force.
