Central Academy Patriots complete standout season

The Central Academy Patriots had an extraordinary football season this year, setting a school record of seven wins and only one loss.

There was something special happening with this team from the start of Patriot Pride workouts to the final game against Northside Middle School. It was a combination of hard work, determination and team spirit on the part of the players and the excellent coaching staff.

If you were in the football stands on the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 16, for the game against Northside Middle School, then you know that the excitement expressed throughout the game was unbelievable.

For those of you who weren’t there, you missed the game of the 2014 season. It is rare to attend a middle school football game and feel like you are at a high school state championship; this game had it all. Memories were made on the field that night for every one of the CAMS football players. These young boys will always remember the game that put them at the top of the district. But the memories are not just based on that final win, it was so much more.

From the start, the coaches worked tirelessly keeping these boys motivated and looking forward to the next game (Head Coach Nixon and assistant coaches Miller, Firebaugh and Witt). All of these coaches were role models for character on and off the field.

Thank you, parents, for supporting and encouraging your child throughout the season. Thank you, CAMS administration, including Mr. McClung, principal; Mr. Pendleton, assistant principal; and Mrs. Wolfe, athletic director. A special thanks goes to Ms. Vicky for being an outstanding team mom.

As the boys shout before the start and end of each game: Go Patriots!
